Senari massacre: Main accused arrested in Bihar

The main accused in the Senari massacre, in which 34 members of a particular caste were killed by Maoists, was arrested on Monday by Special Task Force (STF) from here, police said.

Ramesh Yadav alias Pehlwan, a member of the proscribed Maoist Communist Centre (MCC), was arrested along with two of his associates from Chitkohra locality, STF SP P. K. Sinha said.

On March 18, 1999, as many as 34 people belonging to a particular caste at Senari village in Jehanabad district were killed by MCC activists.

The police was on the look out for Yadav, a resident of Sukulbigha in Arwal district, absconding since March 19, 1999.

Mr. Sinha said the STF also arrested Rakesh Verma and Kameshwar Yadav, wanted in connection with the killing of a sand dealer at Paliganj last year.
