A day before the Mayor elections in BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) here, a Shiv Sena woman corporator has gone missing, police said.

A missing person complaint was lodged on Monday by Chhaya Bhanji’s son Puneet, who in his complaint stated that his mother, representing Versova area, had not returned home since Sunday evening, they said.

“According to Mr. Puneet, she (Chaya) left home in Versova village at around 6 pm on Sunday, leaving her vehicle behind.

She was also to attend a wedding ceremony in the same locality. Since she did not return home, her son lodged the complaint at 3 am,” senior inspector of Versova police station S Nalawade told PTI.

Ms. Chhaya’s mobile was also switched off, he said, adding that Mr. Puneet did not suspect kidnapping behind the incident.

The total strength of the Sena-BJP combine in the BMC is 115, which includes two ABS corporators and three Independents. The Congress-led Opposition has 110 seats.
