Security stepped up at Eden Gardens after Bangalore blast

Following the Bangalore blast, security has been stepped up at the Ranji Stadium here, where an Indian Premier League (IPL) match is scheduled to be held in the evening.

The home team Kolkata Knight Riders is slated to play the Rajasthan Royals at the stadium which is better known as the Eden Gardens grounds.

West Bengal Chief Secretary Ashok Mohan Chakraborti told reporters at the State secretariat: “necessary security measures were being taken and the city police commissioner is personally monitoring the arrangements."

He also advised the viewers to be extra vigilant. “They have to be more cautious about their own safety", he said. The current capacity is around 45,000.
