The Cyber Crime Cell of Goa police has written to a student leader of the National Students Union of India — the students’ wing of the Congress — asking him to provide them a screenshot copy or the web link of BJP spokesperson Meenakshi Lekhi’s tweet in which she allegedly disclosed the name of the victim in the Tejpal sexual assault case.
NSUI Goa unit vice-president Sunil Kawathankar, who had filed a complaint against the BJP leader, will visit the Cell’s office in Altinho on Tuesday. “They want me to identify the tweets and URL,” Mr. Kawathankar told The Hindu , quoting the letter sent by Inspector Rajesh Job.
In his complaint, Mr. Kawathankar alleged that Ms. Lekhi in her tweets mentioned the victim’s surname, committing a gross violation of law protecting a sexual assault victim’s privacy. Ms. Lekhi however had denied the allegation.
