The city police have arrested the principal of an English medium school in Lohegaon on the charge of giving false evidence and resorting to forgery allegedly to protect his vice-principal who is accused of molesting seven girls over the past one year.

The principal was taken into custody by the Lohegaon police after the latter invoked the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act against him.

“We arrested him [the principal] for not reporting the matter to the police. He also forged a letter stating that the girls were not sexually abused and claimed their parents had signed it,” said Manoj Patil, Deputy Commissioner of Police.
