The hearing on the bail application of the arrested Gujarat cadre IPS officer, Sanjiv Bhatt, remained inconclusive on Monday and will resume tomorrow. The hearing on the maintainability of the state government's revision petition for his police remand has been deferred till November 30.
The revision petition being heard in the court of the principal district judge, G. N. Patel, was deferred after Mr. Bhatt's advocate I. H. Sayed pointed out that a similar petition questioning the maintainability of a revision petition for remand was pending in the Gujarat High Court and the lower court should consider the issue only after it was disposed of.
State government pleader S.V. Raju raised objections to Mr. Bhatt's application for bail being heard in the court of Sessions Judge V. K. Vyas, claiming that the accused could attempt to tamper with the evidence.
