RTI Act to be included in Uttarakhand school curriculum

Uttarakhand government has decided to include the Right to information Act, 2005 in the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) books of classes six to eight

Director of Secondary Education R. K. Kunwar said, “It has been proposed that elementary knowledge on RTI Act should be provided in the SCERT class six to eight textbooks. However, this would only be possible for the next year [2016].”

Additional Director of SCERT R. D. Sharma said there were proposals from the State and the Centre to include RTI Act in the SCERT and the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) syllabus from class nine to class twelve.

Mr. Sharma said “We have proposed that RTI Act should be included in the school curriculum. We will work on the structure of introducing RTI Act in the curriculum when we review the SCERT books, this year.”
