RSS chief in Jammu to review activities

August 21, 2009 02:53 pm | Updated 02:53 pm IST - Jammu:

The Rashtriya Sawayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief, Mohan Rao Bhagwat, arrived here on Friday on a three-day visit to review the functioning the state unit of his organisation.

This is the first time Mr. Bhagwat is on an official visit after being named the chief of the RSS this year. The Sangh is the ideological parent of the BJP, the country’s main opposition party.

Mr. Bhagwat, the sources said, will be conducting a post-mortem of the organisational activities in Jammu and Kashmir, where it is in a crisis as some members indulged in power politics.

“A thorough review of the RSS unit of J&K is on the anvil. He will discuss ways to improve its image and make the Sangh attractive to the youth,” a RSS functionary said.

He admitted that the RSS was facing various problems and youngsters were not finding the organisation attractive.
