A round-the-clock hospital for treatment of injured animals set to come up in Gurgaon soon.
It was announced at the meeting of the Society for Prevention of Cruelty against Animals (SPCA) held here on Tuesday. The SPCA has been constituted by the Haryana government in every district to protect the interests of animals. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Additional Deputy Commissioner Vinay Pratap Singh.
The SPCA is a registered society under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner and Deputy Director Animal Husbandry as its Member Secretary. It has ex-officio members like all Sub-Divisional Magistrates, Representative of Administrator HUDA, Joint Commissioner Headquarter of Municipal Corporation Gurgaon. It was told in the meeting that the MCG has allotted a hospital in Basai to the SPCA, where it will run a round-the-clock hospital for injured animals. As per a member of the SPCA S.P. Gautam, daily 15- 20 cases of injured animals are reported in Gurgaon. He said that the society will also take care of the complaints related to overloading of animals resulting in death of some of them.
Veterinary Surgeon of Animal Husbandry Department Iqbal Dahiya said that the hospital is located in front of the village school and initially the hospital will provide first-aid to the injured animals. Gradually, it will turn into a round-the-clock hospital with indoor facility. He said that the State government has provided a sum of Rs.20 lakh to the society.
