Robbers loot 7 kg of jewellery

Armed robbers allegedly looted 7 kg of gold and silver ornaments at gun point from a jewellery shop at Kavisuryanagar in Ganjam district of Odisha on Thursday afternoon.

Initial investigation revealed that the owner of the shop allegedly had close links with some persons who used to sell looted jewellery to him. Their relation had soured in the recent past, Ganjam Superintendent of Police Narasingha Bhol said. One person has been detained who is being interrogated, he said.

According to the police, at around 3 P.M. a group of six masked persons reached the shop on three bikes and after threatening the staff using fire arms looted the jewellery. It was also revealed during investigation that the owner also used to arrange for bail when these robbers used to get arrested.
