Playing down threats to the future of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), whose chief Lalu Prasad was convicted and sentenced in the fodder scam case, his son Tejaswi Yadav told reporters here on Friday that the party was united.
“The party stands united and there is no leadership crisis. Laluji will remain our leader. Each one in the party is Lalu Prasad. Our morale is high. We will fight to expose the conspiracy aimed at weakening the movement for social justice and secularism,” Mr. Tejaswi told reporters at the Patna airport on his return from Ranchi.
He said embezzlement of fodder funds had been going on since 1977, long before Lalu Prasad became the Chief Minister.
“Laluji became Chief Minister in 1990 and he brought this scam to light. He directed 45 FIRs to be filed and now he has been sent to jail. He had sent L.K Advani to jail. That is the reason why communal forces joined hand with Nitish Kumar to conspire against him,” he said.
The party, he said, was keenly waiting for November 22 when the Central Bureau of Investigation has to file a reply in the Jharkhand High Court regarding the mention of Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar and JD (U) leaders Shivanand Tiwari and Lallan Singh in the case.
Tejaswi said the family and the party had firm faith in the judiciary and they would appeal in the higher court.
