The Centre has sought a report from the Madhya Pradesh government on 600 tonnes of explosives reported missing while being transported from Rajasthan.

“It is a very serious matter. We have asked the Madhya Pradesh government to send a report immediately,” a Home Ministry official said.

Sixty-one trucks carrying the explosives were sent from Rajasthan Explosives and Chemicals Limited at Dholpur to a trading company at Sagar, Madhya Pradesh. The explosives were sent over four months, from April to July. Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Uma Shankar Gupta said police teams were sent to Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra.
