September 14, 2014 02:30 am | Updated May 23, 2016 06:53 pm IST - Guwahati:

Assam Education Minister Pradyut Bordoloi on Saturday ordered the removal of Assamese singer and filmmaker Sadananda Gogoi from the Assam Publication Board following his arrest by the CBI in Kolkata on Friday in connection with the Saradha scam.

“I have also issued a written order for dissolution of the core committee of the Assam Publication Board of which Mr. Gogoi was a convener. The Publication Board is a prestigious institution and it reflects the literary and cultural aspirations of the people of Assam and the arrest of Mr. Gogoi does not augur well for the image of such an institution,” Mr. Bordoloi said. Mr. Gogoi was appointed Secretary of the board during the tenure of former Education and Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
