Refrain from ticketless travel: Konkan Railway authorities

The Konkan Railway authorities have cautioned passengers from travelling ticketless on its trains.

As many as 177 cases of ticketless travelling were detected by the authorities from 20 trains that were checked on Saturday at Margao station.

In order to curb the menace of ticketless travelling, Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL) carried out a surprise check at Madgaon station. An amount of Rs. 57,030 was realized towards penalty.

Besides levying penalty, passengers were sensitised to purchase proper journey tickets before undertaking any journey, said B.G. Ghatge, Senior Manager, Public Relations, KRCL, Madgaon, on Monday.
