Family members of a girl, who was gang-raped and found murdered in West Bengal’s Barasat area in June, met President Pranab Mukherjee at Rashtrapati Bhavan here on Monday seeking a CBI probe and action against the guilty.

The family members and friends, in their memorandum, expressed concern over the way investigation was being done in West Bengal, and at lack of action. One of the family members, not wishing to be identified, said the President agreed to consider their demand for a CBI inquiry. The meeting gave them hope and confidence, he said. Mr. Mukherjee assured the family that he would do whatever was possible within the Constitution.
