Former Chief Minister N. Rangasamy on Monday said that he has filed an application with the Election Commission of India to float a party. “We have proposed All India N. R Congress as the name of the political party,” he said.

Interacting with reporters for a few minutes here, for the first time after he was removed from the Chief Minister's post in 2008, Mr. Rangasamy said his intention was to work for the overall development of the Union Territory. When asked whether the party would form an alliance with any other party, the former Chief Minister said he would take a decision at the time of elections. On the charges levelled against him by the Congress, he said, “I will respond to all those things in the coming days.”
