Shiv Sena mouthpiece Saamna has hailed the verdict in the Ayodhya case, saying it “respects the sentiments of Hindustanis.”

In its editorial on Friday, the paper said Ram's “vanvas” (enforced isolation) from his birthplace finally ended after 60 years, “but Hindus continue to suffer “vanvas” in their own country today.”

Party chief Bal Thackeray issued a cryptic statement on Thursday saying the verdict of the Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court verdict had finally led to the end of dispute on Ram janmabhoomi.

The editorial appealed to Muslims to maintain peaceful co-existence. “We appeal to the sensible Muslims, ‘enough of bloodshed. Babar's attack can't be a matter of faith for you. Accept this land as your motherland. Lord Ram has given you an opportunity'.”
