Rajasthan Pradesh Congress president Sachin Pilot has accused the BJP government of playing with the lives of citizens by stopping the projects for supply of clean drinking water. He said that water-borne diseases have registered an increase because of the State government's “indifference”.
Mr. Pilot said on Friday that even though Rajasthan faced a severe problem of polluted drinking water, the BJP regime had stopped the previous Congress government's scheme for installation of reverse osmosis plants and had failed to utilise budgetary allocations for ensuring the supply of clean drinking water.
“Rajasthan has seen two Water Resources Ministers in the last four years, but both of them turned a blind eye to the corruption prevailing in the department which has led to the collapse of the water supply infrastructure,” said Mr. Pilot.
The PCC chief demanded initiation of a new project to make drinking water free of pollutants such as fluoride, nitrate and arsenic, which were affecting people's health and causing dental ailments, cancer and bone deformities among large sections of the population.
