To ease routine traffic jams on the Jaipur-Agra highway, a four-lane road tunnel would be constructed in the city, a government official said here today.
The first such project in the city will come up at Ghat—ki—Guni, the entrance to the Pink City, and will be executed under BOT (built, operate and transfer) basis and cost Rs 150 crore.
“About 647-metre long tunnel with four lanes, four km of new roads, fly overs, toll plaza and petrol pump will be built within 30 months by a private firm Rohan Rajdeep Company of Maharashtra,” OSD and Advisor to the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) Babulal Gupta said on Sunday.
Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot will lay the foundation stone of project on October 13, he said.
RRC would be able to impose toll tax on vehicles for 13 years, five months and 20 days, and there after it would have to transfer it to JDA, he said.
