In an effort to provide medical care at the door steps of villagers, the Rajasthan government will launch a month-long campaign titled “Swasthya Chetna Yatra” in 9,000 gram panchayats from September 15.
Union Health Minister Gulam Nabi Azad will inagurate the campaign at a specially organised event at Mohanpura near Vatika in Jaipur rural on the same day, Principal Secretary Medical and Health RK Meena told reporters here.
Children, women, and elderly persons would be provided free medical check up, diagnosis and treatment on the spot either at special camps or primary health centres in the villages, Mr. Meena, who is coordinating the camp, said.
On the eve of the camp, a socio-cultural programme to make people aware of “swasthya chetna yatra” will be held in each gram panchayat, he said.
A team of doctors and specialists would be deployed to conduct health camps, he said adding that patients of chronic illness would be referred to the district or state capital’s hospital for free treatment.
After this, a mega health camp would be organised in November-December for chronic patients in the villages, where ever required, he said and added that atleast 40 lakh people of the state living in villages would benefit from the camp.
