The police have blocked two accounts on Facebook and Twitter following a complaint from Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) activists that their leader Raj Thackeray’s son’s accounts on both the sites were hacked and objectionable remarks posted on his profile.

No case has been registered yet. “The matter is being investigated by the Cyber Crime Cell,” Mumbai Joint Commissioner of Police Himanshu Roy told The Hindu on Saturday.

MNS workers said they noticed on Friday that fake accounts in the name of Mr. Thackeray’s son Amit Thackeray and daughter Urvashi Thackeray were created on Facebook and Twitter. “Some very objectionable things were posted on Twitter in the name of Amit,” a party worker said.

A party activist said the police were also told that there were many fake profiles in Mr. Thackeray’s name on Facebook and on Twitter and that he does not hold any account on both websites.
