Railway employee killed in freak mishap in Bihar

Railway point-man Abdul Gaffar was killed while joining the engine to the coaches of a train near Sitamarhi Railway Station in Bihar

A railway point-man was killed while joining the engine to the coaches of a train near Sitamarhi Railway Station in Bihar on Thursday.

Sitamarhi Railway Commercial Superintendent (in-charge) Teknath Jha said the deceased has been identified as Abdul Gaffar. He was a resident of Mehsaul village close to the station.

“The incident happened while Gaffar was joining railway engine to the coaches. In the process he was hit in the head by the hook of the engine and died on the spot,” said Jha.

Gaffar’s body has been sent to Sitamarhi Sadar Hospital for postmortem and his family members have been informed about the mishap.
