The Radical Sikh human rights organization led by the All India Sikh Students Federation (AISSF) and the Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) held a protest demonstration before the British High Commission on Friday, demanding that the British government should condemn the “action of its former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher for colluding with Indira Gandhi” in Operation Bluestar.
Karnail Singh Peermohammed of the AISSF submitted a memorandum to the High Commission which was released to journalists later. It urges the British government to apologize for the death of innocent Sikhs in the attack on the Golden Temple in June 1984 and declare that colluding with the Indian government, was a “grave blunder.”
The statement further said, “The British people and their monarchy owe a debt to the Sikh nation, which can be repaid only by the full and unconditional support of the British government in assisting Sikhs.”
