Punjab takes steps to make Mohali a world-class city

In a bid to upgrade Mohali into a world-class city, the Punjab government on Thursday approved a slew of projects.

“At a high-level meeting, Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal has approved 20 major projects to upgrade the infrastructure of the city and its adjoining areas,” an official spokesman said here.

The projects approved included Rs. 300-crore Water Supply Scheme, upgrading of Mullanpur road (Rs. 290 crore) and modernisation plan of Mohali Police, he said.

Mr. Badal also gave go ahead to the ambitious Rs. 250-crore Kharar Bypass project on Kharar-Ludhiana-Ropar Junction.

An amount of Rs. 200 crore were approved to provide 100 per cent sewerage and water supply connectivity besides upgrading the road network of Mohali’s adjoining towns - Dera Bassi, Banur, Kharar, Lalru and Zirakpur.
