The city on Wednesday experienced its first bout of pre-monsoon showers which brought relief from the summer heat.

This year has been hotter compared to the bad-rainfall years of 2012 and 2013 with the pre-monsoon showers recorded by the Met Department from March to May being a paltry 21.2 mm.

Meanwhile, city-based weather expert Ramchandra Sable on Wednesday predicted an average 102 per cent rain for Maharashtra, with good news for the perennially parched divisions of Marathwada and Vidarbha, remarking that both were expected to receive rainfall in excess of 110 per cent.

In contrast, the Konkan and Western Maharashtra divisions were set to receive less rainfall this time, with each division expected to record 98 per cent and 97.16 per cent respectively, he said.
