The wife of Ziyabudeen, a 35-year-old youth who is stranded in an insurgency-hit area of Iraq, fears for her husband's safety.

On Sunday she urged Chief Minister N. Rangasamy to take immediate steps for his safe exit from Iraq.

The mother and son have been spending sleepless nights since Mr. Ziyabudeen telephoned them on Friday stating that he lived in utter dread at a shelter in an unknown location and had not had food for the past three days.
