Chief Minister N. Rangasamy on Saturday said an all-party meet would soon be conducted to a finalise strategy for carrying forward the agenda of Statehood to Puducherry.
Speaking to a group of journalists who met him to seek his response to the accusations made by Lieutenant Governor Virendra Kataria against him, Mr. Rangasamy said steps had already been taken to invite all parties to the meeting. It would be held this month.
The meeting is a continuation of an earlier meeting held a few months ago. It would discuss all issues faced by the Union Territory owing to lack of powers. It would also take a decision on taking a group of leaders of all parties to meet the President, the Prime Minister and others to stress the need for according statehood to Puducherry.
On charges made by Mr. Kataria about “back door” appointments of his “own people” to various corporations, Mr. Rangasamy said that if there were back door entries, how would you call the appointment of about 5,000 persons during the previous Congress rule in various corporations and departments.
While parrying direct questions on the charges made by Mr. Kataria, Mr. Rangasamy said his priority was to implement the promises given to people and expedite schemes announced in the budget.
