Promotion for all till Class 8 in Maharashtra

The Maharashtra government on Monday said all students till Class 8 would be given promotion to the next class even if they did not perform well in examinations.

“Even if they don't perform well in the exams, they won't be failed, but simply given a grade and can move ahead to next class,” School Education and Sports Department Principal Secretary Sanjay Kumar told PTI here. This would come into effect from the current academic session.

A Government Resolution to the effect was issued in accordance with the Right to Education Act for all children, Mr. Kumar said.
