Prayers at the flood-ravaged Kedarnath temple will begin on September 11, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna said here on Sunday. The decision was taken after a meeting reviewed the situation. Mr. Bahuguna said, “Bad weather continues to hamper restoration work in the Kedarnath Valley [in Rudraprayag district] but the prayers will start on September 11 anyway.” A 24-member team of the Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee will reach Kedarnath on September 10 to make arrangements for the prayers. Though prayers would begin on September 11, yatra was still prohibited. “Pilgrims will not be allowed to go to Kedarnath without the permission of the government,” the Chief Minister said.
