A day after Budhia Singh, the marathon boy returned to the city after long absence from Sports Hostel, Child Welfare Committee and police on Thursday recorded his statements.

The boy, who shot to limelight for his prowess in long distance running, expressed his dissatisfaction over lack of facilities in sports hostel and showed reluctance to return to Bhubaneswar Sports Hostel, where the State government was bearing accommodation and training expenses.

Police Commissioner Y. B. Khurania said statements of Budhia Singh and his mother Sukanti Singh were recorded under Section 161 of CrPC on their return from Mumbai. Later, boy’s statement would be recorded by the court under section 164 of CrPC.

After mysterious absence of wonder kid from sports hostel, CWC, Khurda, had lodged a complaint with a local police station requesting to trace him. Subsequently, city police contacted Budhia and his mother who had gone to Kodaikanal in Tamil Nadu on a holiday trip.

Sports enthusiasts had expressed concerns over disturbance in training regime of Budhia. While some alleged that producer of his biopic, ‘Budhia; Born to Run’ had taken him to Mumbai for film promotion, others said the marathon had run away from the hostel.
