Police probe confirms kidnap charge against JMM MLA

February 17, 2013 02:36 am | Updated 02:36 am IST - Ranchi:

A Ranchi police enquiry has found Jharkhand Mukti Morcha MLA Sita Soren — one of the accused in the case of exchange of money in the Rajya Sabha polls in March 2012 — guilty of kidnapping and assaulting her former personal assistant Vikas Pandey, a CBI witness, on December 24 last.

“Arrest orders have not yet been issued,” said Ranchi (City) S.P. Vipul Sharma.

The FIR on allegations of kidnapping was registered against Ms. Soren, wife of JMM leader Shibu Soren’s deceased son Durga Soren, last December at the Argora police station. Reena Devi, wife of Mr. Pandey, complained that Ms. Soren accompanied by bodyguards Vikas Singh and Chanchal Patar, had stopped him at Harmu here and forcibly taken him to her official residence in Dhurva, where he was allegedly threatened against testifying against Ms. Soren before the CBI. The police, however, rescued Mr. Pandey from Ms. Soren’s Dhurva residence the same night.
