Police on Saturday resorted to lathicharge to disperse PDP workers trying to block the national highway during an anti-government agitation in Jammu.

Over 1,200 PDP workers took out a rally from the party headquarters in Gandhi Nagar, in protest against the government’s “total failure” on all fronts, particularly multiple scams in the Omar Abdullah-led dispensation.

Raising anti-government slogans, PDP workers marched to the Jammu-Pathankote National Highway and tried to block it.

Police tried to disperse the protesters to remove the blockade, leading to a clash.

Police used water cannons and resorted to a mild lathicharge to clear the highway of the protesters.

PDP leaders claimed that four supporters were injured in the lathicharge, which police denied.
