Police jobs for slain DSP’s wife, brother

In a late night development on Friday, the Uttar Pradesh government appointed Parveen Azad, wife of the slain DSP, Zia-ul-Haque, as Officer on Special Duty (OSD), Welfare, in the Police Department. The DSP’s brother, Sohrab Ali, has been appointed a constable, Welfare.

According to a communiqué from the Home Department, both are ex-cadre posts. There are four posts of OSD Welfare in the Police department.

Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav assured Ms. Azad that the government would provide two jobs to the members of the DSP’s family. The number was later increased to three with a nephew of the police officer added to the list, though Ms. Azad on Thursday reportedly demanded eight jobs.
