In a major breakthrough, the team of police commandos and troopers of 39 Assam Rifles arrested the secretary of the Division No. VI of the People's Liberation Army (PLA), the military wing of the proscribed underground organisation Revolutionary People's Front, on Monday night.

The rebel was identified as T. Sanju, 27, of Thoubal district.

Briefing reporters on Tuesday, R.K.Jhalajit, Additional Police Superintendent of Imphal West District, said that it was a major victory for the police since the arrested rebel had knowledge of vital information about the outfit.
