The People’s Democratic Party, on Monday, filed a complaint with the Election Commission against National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah for allegedly accusing Mufti Mohammad Sayeed for the terror attack at the residence of National Conference leader Yawar Massodi at Bapora Khrew in Pulwama district.

A newspaper report has said that the Union Cabinet Minister, at a rally in Chhanapora, alleged it was Mr. Sayeed and his party men, and not Pakistan-based militants, who were behind the attack.

Seeks probe

In its complaint, PDP dismissed Mr. Abdullah’s allegations against its chief as “totally baseless” and urged the CEC to order an inquiry.

“We believe levelling such serious and baseless allegations is a serious violation of the model code of conduct and we request you to kindly intervene in the matter and an independent probe may be ordered into the matter,” the complaint reads.

The report in Greater Kashmir quoted Dr. Abdullah as saying, “You know who will carry out the attack on our workers. They [PDP] want to use bombs and bullets to threaten our workers as they have already sensed defeat in the polls for the Srinagar-Budgam constituency.”
