Following the Patna stampede which claimed 33 lives, the Bihar government on Sunday transferred top four officials who were in charge of the district administration. The officials have been replaced with effect from October 7.

In an apparent bid to fix responsibility for the lapses, the State, through an official notification, transferred Divisional Commissioner N. Vijaylakshmi, District Magistrate (DM) Manish Kumar Verma, Deputy Inspector General of Police Ajitabh Kumar and Senior Superintendent of Police Manu Maharaj.

Both Ms. Vijaylakshmi and Mr. Verma have been asked to report to the General Administration Department (GAD).

Jitendra Srivastava, presently posted as the Managing Director of the Bihar Power Generation Company Ltd., has been made the new East Champaran DM.
