Patna HC quashes election of BJP MP from Sasaram

July 28, 2016 04:33 pm | Updated 05:03 pm IST - Patna:

The Patna High Court on Thursday terminated membership of BJP MP from Sasaram in Bihar Chhedi Paswan for not disclosing criminal charges pending against him while filing his nomination papers to contest the last Parliamentary poll in 2014.

While hearing a petition filed by Ganga Mishra the single Bench of Patna HC Justice K. K. Mandal terminated the Lok Sabha membership of the BJP MP.

The BJP MP was earlier Minister in the Nitish Kumar Cabinet but before the Lok Sabha poll he had joined BJP and became party MP from Sasaram parliamentary constituency.

The petitioner had, earlier, charged that the BJP MP Chhedi Paswan had concealed information of criminal charges pending against him in his nomination papers filed during the Lok Sabha poll.

On the court’s order, the BJP MP Chhedi Paswan said that he would go to the Supreme Court against the Patna HC order.
