Patient shot dead by relatives in hospital ward

A patient admitted in Gandhi ward of Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj Medical University here was allegedly shot dead by his relatives inside the ward, police said on Friday.

The patient identified as Shivnandan, resident of neighbouring Barabanki district was shot dead by Ram Singh and his associate on Thursday night in the ward, police sources said.

Both of them came inside the ward with their faces covered and opened fire at Shivnandan, they said adding though security guards of the ward opened fire at the assailants, they managed to flee from the scene.

The motive behind the murder was stated to be illicit relationship, police said.

The victim was undergoing treatment after some persons had shot him in Barabanki two days back.

Meanwhile, the police have launched a manhunt to nab the accused.
