Manipur Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) has called for diary notes of Presiding Officers of at least 76 polling booths in the Outer Manipur Lok Sabha constituency, where polling was held on Wednesday, after political parties alleged booth capturing and proxy voting by militants and demanded repoll in all booths.

“We asked the Deputy Commissioners and District Election Officers to open the diaries of the presiding officers, check their notes on the poll proceedings and submit detailed reports to us. Scrutiny is being done by Returning Officers and observers.

Repoll, if any, will depend on their recommendations to the Election Commission,” said CEO O. Nabakishore.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) alleged that militants of National Socialist Council of Nagalim (Isak–Muivah), who had signed a ceasefire with the Union government, captured about 30 polling booths in Chandel, Senapati and Ukhrul districts and forced people to vote for Naga People’s Front (NPF) candidate.

The party also alleged that Kuki militants, currently under Suspension of Operation (SoO) agreement with Manipur government and the Centre, captured over 20 polling booths in Churachandpur and Senapati districts.
