Parrikar recalls Munde’s closeness to Goa

Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Tuesday condoled the death of Union Minister for Rural Development Gopinath Munde and recalling latter’s closeness to Goa, called it an unbearable loss for Goa.

Paying his tribute to departed BJP leader at BJP headquarters in Panaji on Tuesday afternoon, Mr. Parrikar recalled that while his government was sworn in on March 9, 2012 after a clear majority in Goa Legislative Assembly polls only to face a massive setback in the death of his senior Minister Matanhy Sadanha by an heart-attack on 12th day of that, similarly, he said the BJP Government which came with a clear majority in the Centre had faced this irreparable loss in eight days with the death of Mr. Munde.

Recalling the days when late BJP leader Pramod Mahajan was BJP Goa-in-charge, Mr. Parrikar said "Mr. Munde was our mediator to approach Mr. Mahajan with any major issue or problem.”

Goa announced a day-long mourning and Mr. Parrikar said that he and Goa BJP leaders will leave for Beed in Maharashtra to attend the funeral of Mr. Munde on Wednesday.
