As the German-embassy-sponsored ‘Ehsaas-e-Kashmir’ filled Shalimar Bagh with melodies of peace and joy, a conglomerate of civil society conducted a ‘Haqeeqat-e-Kashmir’ concert to pay tribute to martyrs, at the Sher-e-Kashmir Park here.

Exhibiting a host of items — ranging from portraits of militants and civilians killed at the hands of police and security forces to the memorial letters written by Afzal Guru and Syed Ali Shah Geelani — the participants sang songs, recited poems and made speeches to remember the people they believe died for “Kashmir’s freedom from the Indian military occupation”. The show was attended by hundreds and no attempts were made to disrupt the event or create a law and order problem.
