Over next 2 years, Sony to release 200 hrs. of classical music

“Music of the legends are always material for posterity and the CD with 16 songs of M.S. Subbulakshmi and Radha Vishwanathan that Sony Music in association with National Centre of Performing Arts (NCPA) released on Saturday were part of this “Masters Works” series” said Shridhar Subramaniam, President, Sony Music.

Talking to The Hindu ahead of the CD release said, the next two years would see Sony releasing 200 hours of more classical music. “Two more live concerts of MS, with the rare combo of Karaikudi Mani on the mridanga will be released in two months,” he said. “The sensational Zakir Hussain & Alla Rakha Tabla jugalbandi are also in the kitty,” he added.

NCPA had 5,000 hours of several genres of music which were live and studio-recordings mainly done in Mumbai , said Mr. Subramaniam.
