Orissa on Wednesday claimed to have become the first State to introduce three online facilities, including payment of vehicle tax.

Online application and appointment for learners’ licence, issuance of vehicle permit and payment of vehicle tax are the three facilities that would be available from today, Commerce and Transport Minister Sanjev Sahu said, adding the State was the first to introduce such service.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the e—DISHA (transport online system) by clicking the mouse at a simple ceremony here.

With e—DISHA, people now need not run to Regional Transport Offices and stand in queues in order to pay their motor vehicle tax or to apply for a licence or permit of their commercial vehicles.

Sahu said e—DISHA also helps a person to verify past payment of vehicle tax and know the payable amount.
