CPI(M) State secretary Surjya Kanta Mishra said here on Saturday that party leaders, along with elected representatives of other parties, including of the BJP, would meet the Governor to brief him on the post-counting violence in West Bengal.
The development came on a day when alleged attacks by Trinamool Congress cadres were limited not just to CPI(M) workers but also the police.
3 workers injuredIn Bardhaman district, three CPI(M) workers were injured on Saturday after they were allegedly attacked by Trinamool-backed goons. The CPI(M) claimed that the attacks came as the party won the Jamuria seat in the Assembly polls.
Reports of attack on Left Front supporters also came from the Kalyani constituency in Nadia district. On Saturday, Trinamool cadres allegedly vandalised the house of a local CPI(M) worker and assaulted his family members.
Attacks by the ruling party also took place in Paschim Mednipur’s Narayangarh where the CPI(M) party office was set on fire. Mr. Mishra failed to retain the seat in the Assembly polls. CPI(M) workers were attacked at the city’s Tollygunge and Belieaghata areas. In some instances, Trinamool workers were at the receiving end.
On Friday, two Trinamool supporters were shot at allegedly by CPI(M) cadres in the Nanoor area of Birbhum district. A Trinamool supporter was killed at Baghmundi in Purulia district. According to the ruling party men, he was killed allegedly by Congress supporters when he protested against a victory march of the party.
A group of people owing allegiance to the Trinamool Congress attacked a police station in North 24 Parganas district. Four police personnel were injured in the attack in the New Barrackpore area.
