One Maoist killed, one arrested in Jharkhand

A member of CPI(Maoists), Ramesh Munda, was killed and another, Lalmohan Munda, was arrested in an encounter in Khunti district, 40 km from Ranchi, on Tuesday, officials said officials.

The encounter between the team of district police and paramilitary troopers of Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) 94 took place in Lobed village in Adki block in Khunti.

“We acted on an intelligence input and came across a local squad of Maoists led by Mara Munda in Lobed. They fired on us and we retaliated. We fired 80 rounds,” said Khunti District Superintendent of Police Anish Gupta.

He said that the encounter was still on till Tuesday evening.
