A major campaign for a separate Vidarbha state is underway through social media

July 09, 2016 11:17 pm | Updated October 18, 2016 02:07 pm IST - NAGPUR:

The youth wing of the Vidarbha Rajya Andolan Samiti (an umbrella organisation of different groups demanding a separate Vidarbha state) plans to send one lakh emails to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi and other Indian politicians to explain them “the importance” of a separate Vidarbha state.

“A major campaign for a separate Vidarbha state is underway through social media and now the issue is being discussed on almost all platforms. This is the season of college admissions and sowing, so we do not want to hit the streets with this demand but we want to keep the agitation going. Between July 16 and 18, around one lakh emails will be sent to the Prime Minister and other political leaders,” said Deepak Munde, the east Nagpur president of Vidarbha Rajya Samiti Yuwa Aghadi (Vidarbha State Committee Youth Wing).

“Through these emails, we will warn these leaders that the demand for a separate Vidarbha state cannot be ignored anymore,” he said.
