Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday hoped that the government of India would implement the recommendations of the interlocutors to settle the political issues between Srinagar and New Delhi.
He sought the people's support in ensuring sustainable peace.
The Independence Day celebrations passed off peacefully across the State amid tight security arrangements and a strike in response to the call by separatists to observe it as “black day.”
After unfurling the Tricolour at the Bakshi Stadium here, Mr. Abdullah said gun had never been [an] answer to any problem, neither would it solve any issue in future. “It has been there for the last 20 years and nothing could be achieved. Whenever we reached close to the solution that was only through dialogue. We have to work for sustained dialogue to resolve internal and external political issues politically,” he said, expressing the hope that the interlocutors would soon present their report to the Centre.
“The Prime Minister and [the] Home Minister have assured me that the recommendations of the interlocutors would be given due weightage to seek the solution of the political issues between the State and the Centre,” he said. The talks between India and Pakistan would move on positively for peace and development in the sub-continent.
