Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday visited the family of slain Jamiat-e-Ahli Hadees chief Moulvi Showkat Ahmad Shah, who was killed in an IED blast.

Mr. Omar, accompanied by Minister of State for Urban Development Nasir Aslam Wani and Chief Minister’s Advisor Devender Rana, visited the family of Shah in Lal Bazaar area of the city at around 8.20 AM, officials said.

The Chief Minister expressed his condolences to the bereaved family.

This is for the first time that a Chief Minister has visited the family of a slain separatist leader.

Shah, who was a prominent religious scholar, was killed in an IED blast attack outside a mosque in Maisuma area of the city, minutes before he was scheduled to lead a Friday congregation.
