Jail authorities in Goa on Monday filed a formal police complaint at the Mormugao police station in South Goa against seven jail inmates, including Tehelka founder-editor Tarun Tejpal after mobile phones were recovered from them at the Sada sub-jail on Sunday, Additional Inspector General of Prisons Gopal Parsekar said on Monday.

The mobiles were seized during a routine inspection on Sunday, Superintendent of the prison Gaurish Shankhawalkar told The Hindu .

At the moment neither the jail authorities nor the police know how the mobile phones found their way into the jail.

Sources in the jail said the mobile was found inside the bedding used by Mr. Tejpal. Mr. Shankhwalkar, however, declined to either confirm or deny it.
