The Jammu and Kashmir government on Friday suspended a revenue officer and some others for including a legislator in the Below Poverty Line (BPL) list.

A Tehsildar and some revenue and Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) employees have been suspended, a government official told IANS.

The state assembly witnessed uproar after reports emerged that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator Krishen Bhagat figured in the list of BPL ration card holders.

Later it came to light that another legislator, Engineer Rashid, also figured in the list.

A Jammu and Kashmir legislator draws a monthly emolument of Rs. 80,000 besides enjoying other perks.
